In order to make money, you will ALWAYS have to have a product or service that somebody else wants.
Think about it, the grocery store sells food because you want it.
You pay for Uber because you need a ride somewhere.
You buy an iPhone because you want a smart phone.
You pay for University because you want an education.
So… the trick is to find out what products or services you can offer that people will want.
Here are 5 easy things you can do… but you will have to provide a product or service with each of them.
Pet Sit with Rover.com
I don’t have a pet, so I didn’t realize how much people love their pets.
A few years ago I went to Ohio to visit some friends of mine and they both ‘pet sit’.
They know a lot of people in their neighborhood and anytime someone goes away for the weekend or for vacation, they call my friends to see if they can dog or cat sit.
I could hardly believe the cash my friends were pulling in by doing this.
They don’t use rover.com since they’ve lived in their neighborhood for decades and know everybody. But if you live in a larger city and would like to try your hand at pet sitting, dog walking, daily pet visits and the like, rover could just be your answer.
I wrote more about this here.
But the quick version is that Uber is a great way to make money quickly. The restrictions are that you have to have a car that is 10 years old or less, a four door and have insurance and registration. Uber also does a background check, so they screen you first.
Once all the details are out of the way, you can just hop in your car and start earning.
Uber gives you access to a driver’s app, and when Uber matches you up with a rider, the app will alert you (if you have it turned on). You just drive to where the rider is, pick them up and drop them off at their destination.
Its the ultimate side hustle.
Deliver Food with DoorDash
Doordash is a food delivery service.
Its similar to Uber Eats, but specializes in Food delivery. Doordash partners with tons of well known chain restaurants as well as many small, local restaurants.
They also partner with grocery providers, and as a matter of fact, they are the service that Wal-Mart uses to deliver groceries.
This is a great opportunity if you want quick cash and don’t really want to shuttle people around in your car.
If you have property, you can rent your place out with Airbnb or VRBO
This method of making money implies using your asset (your house, condo or apartment) as a way to make money.
With AirBnB you don’t even need to leave your house since you can rent out just a room.
The world is full of people who are looking for different things. You may not think your property is in a cool enough location or that no one would rent your place, but give it a try.
If you live there, why not take a vacation twice a year and while you are gone, rent out your place rather than leave it empty.
Become a Transcriptionist
This is the first opportunity in this list that can be considered working online. That has a very strong appeal since you don’t need to drive, don’t
need to even change out of your jammies and can take care of the kids at home while you work.
You make your own hours and can choose how much work (or little) you want to do.
Are transcriptionists needed?
Yes, absolutely. They are in demand. If you think that because of speech recognition software there isn’t that much demand, you are wrong.
Doctors, attorneys, video makers, podcasters, academia, courts and legal professionals all need transcribers. Why? Because they want their material (audio and video) to be searchable. Nobody wants to sit through a 30 minute video looking for the 20 seconds that’s actually important to them.
Being a transcriber is not easy in the traditional sense of ‘pushing a button’ but with practice and a bit of learning, it is VERY easy to achieve your goal of making money while you work from home.
Here are two sites I think are important if you’re interested.
Transcribe Me is a site where you can find transcription jobs, and Transcribe Anywhere is one of the best, if not the best training site for becoming a professional transcriptionist. Both are highly recommended.
